EMDR Basic Training
EMDR therapy is a specialised approach that requires supervised training for full therapeutic effectiveness and client safety. The training consists of lectures, live, and video demonstrations, and supervised practice. The EMDRhub Trainers are trained by the EMDR Institute and are EMDRAA-approved.
The EMDR Institute is the original training and research organisation established by Dr Francine Shapiro in 1990. The curriculum is regularly updated and expanded to reflect current research and to meet the current needs of clinicians.

This experiential training will familiarise participants with a broad spectrum of EMDR therapy applications sufficient for comfortable and efficient use with a wide range of patients and situations. Special attention will be given to the therapeutic needs of clients.
Weekend 1 and Weekend 2
EMDR Institute Basic training spans six days, allowing participants to fully engage in EMDR practice through six distinct practicum sessions. The training is divided into two parts: Weekend 1 and Weekend 2, each lasting three days. Following each three-day segment, there is a five-hour supervision/case consultation component requirement to satisfy completion of the training. Prior to attending Weekend 2 of the EMDR Basic Training, documentation confirming completion of 5 consultation hours with an EMDR Institute Consultant is required. This structure prevents attendance at Weekend 2 in the days after completing Weekend 1.
Post-training case consultation is conducted by Consultants with additional training and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Completion of Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 EMDR Institute Trainings and 10 hours of case consultation with an EMDR Institute Approved Consultant must be completed in a two-year period to qualify for an EMDR Institute Basic Training Certificate.
Daily schedule for both Weekend 1 and Weekend 2
Day 1: 8:30am – 5:30pm
Day 2 : 8:30am – 5:30pm
Day 3 : 8:30am – 5:00pm
The estimated closing times are subject to change, as practicums may sometimes extend beyond the anticipated schedule, concluding at 5:30pm or later. Participants are required to attend the entire duration of the training. Certificates of attendance will not be issued unless these criteria are fulfilled.
